Choosing publishing channels
Decide whether each article or page appears on your StatsCentral public page, feeds your own website's API, or both.
Overview
Every article and page has channels — the places it's delivered once published. You set them per item on the form, so you can send some content to your public page, some only to your own website, and some to both.
There are two channels:
| Channel | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Public page | Your club's public page on StatsCentral (the News section and standing pages). |
| API | Your club's read-only content API, for pulling content into your own website. |
Setting channels
- On the article or page form, find the Channels section.
- Tick Public page, API, or both.
- Save.
Channels and publishing are independent: choosing a channel on a draft just pre-selects where it will go. Nothing is delivered until you Publish the item — delivery is the channel and a published status.
Using the API channel
If you tick API but haven't created an API key yet, the form prompts you to generate one. The API channel only does something once your website is calling the content API with a valid key — see connecting your website with the content API.
Edge cases / gotchas
- New items default to public page. A fresh article or page targets the public page channel; turn it off if you only want it on the API.
- Unticking every channel hides an item. With no channels selected, a published item is delivered nowhere. Keep at least one ticked.
- Changing channels is instant on published items. Tick or untick and save to add or remove an item from a channel.
