Creating teams & managing rosters
How to create a team inside your club, configure its settings and public page, and add or remove members from the roster.
Overview
Teams let you organise your club members into groups — a squad, age-group side, training group, or any other division that makes sense for your club. Each team has its own roster, can be assigned upcoming events, and optionally has a public page that shows on your club's public profile.
Creating a team
- Go to Teams in the sidebar.
- Click New team.
- Fill in the form:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Team name | The name shown in the admin, member portal, and (if enabled) the public team page. |
| Sport | Selects the sport this team competes in. Drives the icon shown on the public page. |
| Age group | Optional. Choose from U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18, U21, Senior, or Masters. |
| Skill level | Optional. Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, or Elite. |
- Click Create team.
You are taken to the new team's page where you can immediately start adding roster members.
Managing the roster
Adding a member
- Open the team from Teams.
- Click Add to roster.
- Select a member from the dropdown — only members not already on this team's roster are shown.
- Choose their role: Player, Assistant Coach, Manager, or Head Coach.
- Click Add.
Head Coach limit: only one head coach can be assigned per team. Attempting to assign a second head coach produces a validation error. Assign the second person as Assistant Coach instead.
Removing a member
On the team page, click Remove next to the member's name. This removes the roster entry only — it does not delete or deactivate the member record.
A member on multiple teams
A club member can appear on the rosters of multiple teams simultaneously. Removing them from one team does not affect their roster status on other teams.
Team settings
Go to the team page and click Settings to configure:
- Team name — rename the team at any time.
- Sport / age group / skill level — change these after creation.
- Public page — toggle the team's public listing on or off (see below).
The team public page
Each team has an optional public page at statscentral.app/teams/{slug}. It is off by default.
To enable it:
- Open Teams → Settings.
- Click Enable public page (or the toggle).
When live, the public page shows the team name, sport, and upcoming public events. It does not expose roster member names or contact details.
Note: The team public page is linked from your club's public page in the Teams section — only teams with public pages enabled appear there.
Edge cases / gotchas
- Removing from roster ≠ removing from club. A member stays in the Members list and keeps their club membership; only the team assignment is removed.
- Slug changes break links. The team slug is generated from the name and used in the public URL. Renaming a team updates the slug and invalidates any previously shared public-page links.
- Creating a team requires an active Club OS subscription. If your club's subscription has lapsed, the New team button is not available.
