Assessment templates
Assessment templates define reusable grading rubrics — with scored attributes and a max score — that coaches apply when evaluating players.
Overview
An assessment template is a reusable rubric that defines what gets scored and how. Each template specifies a name, an optional description, a maximum score, and a list of attributes (e.g. "Dribbling", "Passing", "Teamwork"). When a coach records a player assessment, they select a template and score each attribute from 1 up to the template's max score.
Templates belong to your club and can be reused across as many player assessments as needed.
Navigate to Assessment templates
- From the club dashboard, select Assessment templates under Quick actions, or
- Select Assessment templates from the club navigation menu.
Create a template
- Click + New template.
- Enter a Name (e.g.
Spring Evaluation). Names must be unique within your club. - Optionally enter a Description.
- Select a Max score from the dropdown (
2through10). Coaches will score each attribute from 1 up to this value. - Add attributes by clicking + Add attribute for each row. Enter an attribute Name (e.g.
Dribbling) and an optional coaching hint. - Click Create template.
The template is immediately available when recording a new assessment.
Edit a template
- Locate the template in the list and click Edit.
- Update the name, description, max score, or attributes as needed. You can rename existing attributes, add new ones, or remove unused ones.
- Click Save changes.
Editing a template does not affect scores already recorded against it.
Archive and restore a template
Archiving hides a template from the new-assessment form while preserving all historical data recorded against it.
| Action | How to do it | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Archive | Click Archive in the template list | Hidden from new assessments; visible in the Archived tab |
| Restore | Open the Archived tab and click Restore | Template becomes available for new assessments again |
Use archiving when a rubric is no longer current but you want to retain past scores.
Delete a template
The Delete option appears only when no assessments have been recorded against the template. Deletion permanently removes the template and all its attributes and cannot be undone.
If Delete is not shown, the template has existing assessment data. Archive it instead.
Template attributes reference
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | Identifies the template in lists and assessment forms |
| Description | No | Shown to coaches when selecting a template |
| Max score | Yes | Applies to every attribute; range is 2–10 |
| Attributes | Yes | Each attribute can have an optional coaching hint |
Tips
- Keep attribute names short — they appear as column headers on the assessment form.
- Use coaching hints to clarify what each score level means (e.g. "5 = elite footwork, 1 = needs foundational work").
- Create separate templates for different age groups or evaluation periods rather than modifying a template in place, so historical comparisons stay valid.
