Recording player assessments

Overview

A player assessment is a scored evaluation of an individual member using an assessment template. The template defines which attributes are graded and the maximum score for each. When you record an assessment, you select a template, score every attribute, and optionally add per-attribute and overall notes. The result is a report card that shows each attribute score with a visual progress bar, an average score, and a full coaching narrative.

Assessments can be recorded for player and coach member types only. Parent/guardian members do not have an Assessments section.

Before recording your first assessment, at least one active template must exist. See Assessment templates if you need to create one.

Navigate to a member's assessments

From the club navigation, select Members.
Locate the member and open their profile.
Scroll to the Assessments section on the profile page. Recent assessments are listed there, along with a + New Assessment shortcut.
Click View all → to open the full assessment history for that member.

Record a new assessment

From the member's profile or their Assessments page, click + New Assessment (or New Assessment).
Select a template. Choose a template from the Template dropdown. The score matrix loads automatically — you will see a row for each attribute defined in that template, with a score selector and an optional notes field.
Select an assessor. Choose the coach or staff member conducting the evaluation from the Assessed by dropdown.
Set the assessment date. The field defaults to today. Change it if you are back-filling a past session.
Enter a session label (optional). Use this to identify the context, such as Week 3 Training or Spring Tryout Day 2.
Score each attribute. For every attribute in the score matrix, select a score from 1 up to the template's maximum. Leave the selector blank (—) to skip an attribute.
Add per-attribute notes (optional). Each attribute row has a notes field for observations specific to that skill.
Add overall notes (optional). Use the Overall notes field for a general coaching summary.
Click Record assessment.

If no active templates exist, the form shows a prompt to create one first.

View the assessment report

From the member's Assessments page, click View next to any row to open the full report.

The report shows:

Summary — player name, assessor, date, template, and session label (if set)
Scores — each attribute with its score (e.g. 4 / 5), a visual bar showing the proportion of the maximum, and any per-attribute notes
Quick stats — attributes scored count and the average score across all scored attributes
Overall notes — the full coaching narrative entered at submission

Attributes left blank during recording appear as Not scored in the report.

Delete an assessment

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

From the report view: click Delete in the top-right corner, then confirm the prompt.
From the assessment history list: click Delete in the row's actions column, then confirm.

Tips

Score all attributes even when a player underperforms — a 1 provides a baseline for future comparisons. Leave an attribute blank only when it genuinely could not be evaluated.
Use the Session field consistently (e.g. Spring 2026 – Week 1) so coaches can compare a player's progress across sessions at a glance.
The average score in Quick stats excludes unscored attributes — complete all attributes for the most accurate snapshot.
