Inviting members
How to send a direct membership invitation to someone by email so they can join your club without going through the public application form.
Overview
An invitation is an admin-initiated shortcut that bypasses the public application and review process. You send it directly to an email address, and the recipient clicks the link to create (or log in to) their StatsCentral account and join your club in one step. Use invitations for individual new members; for migrating many members at once, use Bulk CSV import instead.
How to invite a member
- Go to Members in the sidebar.
- Click Invite member.
- Enter the recipient's email address and click Send invitation.
An invitation email is sent immediately. The member's email appears in your Members list with a pending status while the invitation is outstanding.
What the invitee receives
The invitee gets an email with a Join your club link. Clicking it:
- Takes them to a sign-up or sign-in page (StatsCentral account).
- After authenticating, creates their member record and activates their membership.
The invitation flow does not require admin approval — members who join via invitation are activated directly.
How invitations differ from the public join page
| Invitation | Public join page | |
|---|---|---|
| Initiated by | Admin | Prospective member |
| Requires admin approval | No | Yes |
| Requires public page to be enabled | No | Yes |
| Member chooses their membership type | No (uses the club default or first active type) | Yes |
Edge cases / gotchas
- Invitations do not expire. The link remains valid until the recipient accepts it. If you want to revoke an outstanding invitation, contact support — there is no in-app revoke button for member invitations.
- Multiple invitations to the same email. The system does not deduplicate member invitations. Sending a second invitation to the same email creates a second invitation record. The recipient can use either link, but accepting one does not invalidate the other. Avoid sending duplicates.
- Email already a member. If the invitee's email is already associated with an active member record in your club, they will see an error on acceptance. Check your Members list before inviting.
- Bulk onboarding. For adding many members from a spreadsheet or a previous platform's export, use Bulk CSV import, which sets members to active immediately without requiring them to click an invite link.
