Stat types

What stat types are, how to create them, and how they power per-member performance tracking.

What is a stat type?

A stat type is a performance metric that your club tracks for its members — for example, Sprint 40m, Vertical Jump, Goals Scored, or Bench Press (kg). Each stat type has a name, a unit of measurement, and an optional description that appears as a hint when recording entries.

Stat types are defined per club, so every club can track the metrics that matter for their sport and training programme without affecting other clubs on the platform.

What are stat types for?

Once you have created stat types, your coaching staff can record individual stat entries against any player or coach member directly from their profile page. Over time this builds a performance history that you can filter by metric and date range, and visualise as a line chart to see how a member is progressing.

Common uses include:

  • Tracking athletic benchmarks across a season (sprint times, jump height, strength tests)
  • Recording match statistics per session (goals, assists, tackles)
  • Logging fitness test results for squad selection or insurance purposes
  • Storing free-text observations alongside numeric data (e.g. coach notes)

Unit types

There are four unit types, and the choice affects how values are validated and whether a chart is shown:

Unit Use for Chart
Number Any numeric value — goals, reps, distance in metres Yes
Time Elapsed time — sprint seconds, race minutes Yes
Distance Length or reach — jump height, throw distance Yes
Text Free-form notes, descriptive ratings, qualitative feedback No

How to create a stat type

  1. From your club dashboard, click Manage stat types in the Quick actions panel, or go to Clubs → your club → Stat Types.
  2. Click + New stat type.
  3. Enter a Name (e.g. "Sprint 40m"). Names must be unique within your club.
  4. Choose a Unit from the four options above.
  5. Optionally add a Description — this appears as a hint when recording entries so staff know exactly what to measure.
  6. Optionally set a Display order number to control the order stat types appear in dropdowns and tables. Lower numbers appear first.
  7. Click Add stat type.

Editing and reordering

You can edit the name, description, and display order of a stat type at any time. The unit cannot be changed once any stat entries have been recorded against that type — this protects the integrity of historical data. If you need a different unit, archive the old type and create a new one.

Archiving vs deleting

If a stat type has existing entries, it cannot be deleted. You can archive it instead. Archived types are hidden from the entry dropdown so no new data can be recorded against them, but all historical entries are preserved and will still appear in a member's stat history.

You can restore an archived type at any time from the Archived tab on the Stat Types page.

A type with no entries can be permanently deleted.
