Message board

How admins and coaches post messages to a team and how email notifications work.

Overview

The team message board lets admins and coaches post messages directly to a team's members. Every time a message is posted, all active members on the team's roster receive an email notification with the message content.

Who can post?

  • Admins — can post to any team's board. Messages are displayed under the club's name.
  • Coaches and assistant coaches — can post to the boards of teams they are rostered on. Messages are displayed under their full name.
  • Managers — can read the board but cannot post. The compose form is not shown to them.
  • Players and parents/guardians — can read the board but cannot post.

Posting a message

Admins and coaching staff both post from Club OS, from the same page:

  1. Sign in to Club OS.
  2. Open your Club and navigate to the Teams section.
  3. Click the team whose board you want to post to.
  4. Click Message board.
  5. Scroll to the Post a message section.
  6. Type your message in the text area.
  7. Click Post message.

The message appears on the board immediately and an email is sent to all active team members.

Admins see every team in the club here. Coaching staff see only the teams they hold a roster entry on.

Coaches and assistant coaches also receive a Send a Reply link in notification emails, which takes them directly back to the board.

Email notifications

When a message is posted, an email is sent to every active member on the team's roster. The email includes:

  • The team name and club name
  • The full message content
  • The sender's name (club name for admin posts, the staff member's name otherwise)
  • A reply link for coaches and assistant coaches

Members with no email address on file are skipped.

Troubleshooting

  • A member didn't receive the email. Check that the member has an email address on their profile and that their status is Active.
  • A coach doesn't see the compose form. Confirm the member's type is Coach or Assistant Coach and that they have a roster entry on that team. Managers are read-only by design.
  • A coach can't find the board. Boards moved from the Member Portal to Club OS — see Where did my coaching tools go?.
