Recording a casual scrimmage
How to record a friendly game between two club teams in an open play session, including the matchup, score, and result.
Overview
A casual scrimmage is a friendly game between two of your club's teams, played outside any league or season. You record it as a game inside an open play session. The game carries a score and a result but never touches league standings — no Record, no ranking.
Adding a game
- Open the session from Events.
- In the Games section, click Add a game.
- Fill in the matchup:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Label | A name for the game, e.g. "Game 1". |
| Home team / Away team | Pick from your club's teams (and any squads you've formed for this session). The two sides must be different teams. |
| Date & time | When the game was played. |
| Home score / Away score | Optional until the game is final. |
| Status | Not started, In progress, or Final. |
- Click Save.
The game's sport is inherited from the session — you don't pick it again.
Recording the result
Set the score and change Status to Final to lock in the result. The session page then shows the outcome ("Hawks won", "Draw", and so on). A final game with no score recorded shows no winner rather than fabricating one.
Home and away must differ
You can't set the same team on both sides of a scrimmage. If you try, the game is rejected with a clear error. In the browser, picking a team on one side removes it from the other so the mistake can't happen in the first place.
Edge cases / gotchas
- No standings. Scrimmage results never write a league
Recordor move any ranking. They stay inside the session. - Squads count as teams. If you're running a pick-up run, the two sides can be ad-hoc squads instead of standing club teams. A game is between two club teams or two squads, not one of each.
- Player stats. To capture individual performance, record box scores on a squad game.
- Deleting a game. Removing a game is a soft-delete and keeps the session's other games and box scores intact.
