Forming ad-hoc squads
How to form temporary squads for a pick-up run, assign players to them, and use them as teams in session games.
Overview
In a drop-in run, teams are formed on the day, not fixed in advance. Squads are temporary teams scoped to a single open play session — "Team Blue" and "Team Red" for tonight. They let you split the roster into sides and record games and box scores between them.
Squads exist only for their session. They never appear in your club's team list, in league pickers, or anywhere teams are normally chosen.
Creating a squad
- Open the session and find the Squads section.
- Enter a squad name (e.g. "Blue").
- Click Add.
Create as many squads as you need for the night.
Assigning players to squads
Once at least one squad exists, each roster row gets a squad picker. Choose a squad for each player to build the sides. You can move a player between squads, or clear their squad, at any time.
Playing squad games
With squads formed, add a game and pick two squads as the home and away sides. Squad games work exactly like team scrimmages, and they're the games you can record box scores on.
Edge cases / gotchas
- Squads are session-only. They're cleaned up with the session and never leak into your club or league team lists.
- A game is between two squads or two club teams — not one squad against one standing team.
- You can't remove a squad that's in a game. Delete or reassign the game first, then remove the squad.
- Box scores need squads. Player box scores are recorded on squad games, so form squads before you record individual stats.
